Mountain-Bike Leader Level 1 & 2
Mountain-Bike Leader Level 1 & 2 courses are particularly beneficial for those who wish to gain employment or work as independent operators within the travel industry. They are also very popular with teachers, youth leaders, scout leaders etc. who will benefit from a recognised qualification.
LEVEL 1 NON-TECHNICAL
This Non-Technical Terrain 2 day award promotes the safe enjoyment of mountain biking in an off-road environment and is aimed at those who wish to lead groups of beginners in non-technical terrain transiting through country parks, canal towpaths and non-wilderness areas. You will develop basic Mountain Bike Skills; safe and correct use of brakes, correct gear selection, how to sit, pedal efficiently, cycle up and down hills correctly, front wheel lift as well as receiving an introduction into move advance skills. Successful candidates will need to have a current First Aid Certificate or be working towards obtaining one.
LEVEL 2 TECHNICAL
This 2-day award is aimed at those who wish to lead groups of beginners in non-technical terrain and intermediate riders in technical rocky and demanding terrain. You will learn Intermediate Skills such as cornering, approaching obstacles, speed jumps, balance, and coordination, hopping, bunny hop and small drop offs. You will learn group management and coaching skills, Navigation, Route planning, Risk assessment, Legal issues, Access and conservation, Equipment requirements and Emergency repairs. Successful candidates will need to have a current First Aid Certificate and good map reading skills.
Please note, both Level 1 & Level 2 courses are run together. Candidates and the course instructor will decide after the initial assessment period which certification the individual candidates will undergo on the course
